Upcoming exhibition DIS | CONNECTION – Everything and Everyone Connected

Updated: Sep 30

From October 17th 2025, the exhibition DIS | CONNECTION will be on view at the Provincial House Paviljoen Welgelegen in Haarlem (NL). Five artists present spatial works exploring the theme of connection: between worlds, materials, people, generations, and origins. Visible and invisible, physical, energetic, and philosophical.

Curator Michèle Baudet emphasizes the importance of connection in uncertain times:“The works speak of the boundless interconnectedness of everything and everyone. Without ignoring the shadow side, I want to highlight what gives hope and binds us together.”

The exhibition is part of the overarching theme Borderless of Kunstlijn Haarlem 2025. Visitors are invited on a meandering walk through a sculptural landscape of contrasting materials and forms: steel alongside textile, ceramics with paper, monumental next to fragile.

Participating artists

  • Sonja Cabalt – organic sculptures and installations highlighting the beauty and vulnerability of nature, often focusing on what remains unseen.

  • Tara-Eva Kuijpers Wentink – amorphous, abstract forms inspired by bodily and plant-like structures.

  • Ada Leenheer – drawings, collages, and installations that unravel chaos and fragments of human experience.

  • Claus-Pierre Leinenbach – works balancing apparent opposites such as hardness and softness, using iron and nylon in dialogue.

  • Michèle Baudet – sculptural sketches in wire and lead, shaped by light, expressing human relationships, emotions, and origins.

To accompany DIS | CONNECTIE, a booklet will be published featuring portraits of the five artists and a text by philosopher, writer, and musician Gustan Asselbergs.

At Paviljoen Welgelegen, three of my installations are on view.

Flood, a black 'island', evokes the consequences of biodiversity loss. It resonates with Glow, a new installation created especially for this exhibition, accompanied by a soundscape that reflects on hidden ecosystems often escaping our attention. Together, these works act as both a physical reminder of what is at risk of being lost, and an invitation to feel, to listen, and to reconnect with the unseen worlds around us.

Outdoors, Whispers linger unfolds in the branches of a tree, linking what lies above and below the surface of the earth. The work brings into focus the invisible threads that connect nature’s different realms, and reminds us of our place within them.
